From the Back Cover
A coherent, global vision of electric power systems
Intended as both a basic text and general reference for a broad range of readers, Electric Power Systems: Analysis and Control offers a comprehensive and articulate treatment of both analysis and synthesis of power systems and their controls from a unique system perspective.
The author gives special attention to operational planning, control, and modeling of the physical phenomena involved in electric power systems and provides schematic interpretations for each in order to give the reader a deeper understanding of their structure and a solid mastery of the problems associated with them.
The book features thorough coverage of the subject, such as:
* A systematic reporting of all aspects of the electric power field, including coverage of both hydro- and thermal-generating plants
* Thorough coverage of both static and dynamic operations of power systems
* A global perspective from both an academic and industrial point of view
* Emphasis on the important relations between operations and control devices, including useful considerations for control system design
* New developments and original contributions, both for theory and for practical applications
Highly relevant and timely in scope, the book is essential reading for anyone associated with electric power systems, including students and teachers of power engineering courses, professionals in the industry, consultants, and researchers.

AC Power Systems Handbook, Third Edition
Book Description:
By: Jerry C. Whitaker
ISBN: 0849340349
ISBN-13: 9780849340345
Publisher: CRC - 2006-09-26
Hardcover | 3 Edition | 428 Pages
► Presents comprehensive coverage for planning, design, and maintaining commercial and industrial power systems
► Outlines various protection options, their relative benefits, and how to determine the appropriate level of protection
► Devotes three chapter to grounding, supplying step-by-step guidelines for designing safe systems with good performance
► Covers all aspects of safety in detail, treating the subject with deserving care and severity
► Features a larger format for clearer presentation while fitting more
material into the same number of pages
Sooner or later, power system protection is going to cost money. How much is entirely up to you. Setting up a safe and effective AC power system from the very beginning can help avoid costly downtime and repairs, provide backup power during system outages, and minimize workplace accidents. For the past 15 years, Jerry Whitaker's AC Power Systems Handbook has supplied industry professionals with a comprehensive, practical guide to the key elements of AC power for commercial and industrial systems.
This third edition is thoroughly revised and completely reorganized to reflect the changing demands of modern power systems. To ease navigation, many sections are now presented as separate chapters filled with updated and expanded information. Most notably, the author adds heavily in the areas of transient suppression hardware, electrical system components, and power system fundamentals. Following a logical progression, coverage flows from power system operation to protecting equipment loads, selecting the right level of protection, grounding, standby power, and safety. Along the way, the author paints a clear picture of the sources of disturbances, the tradeoffs involved for different options, and the advantages and limitations of various approaches.
Streamlined to be a hands-on, user-oriented guide, the AC Power Systems Handbook offers expert guidance on designing and installing a safe and efficient power system.

WILEY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ELECTRICAL
AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
أكبر مرجع كهربائي وإلكتروني باكثر من 17 الف صفحة في 24 جزء واكثر من 1400 مقال متخصص,
From Library Journal
At their annual conference last June, the American Society forEngineering Education gave this encyclopedia its award for "BestReference Book." And indeed, with over 1400 articles spanning 24 volumes and 19,000 pages, this is the most comprehensive encyclopedia for electrical engineering in existence. The articles, all of which are informative and lucid, were written and reviewedby engineers with special field knowledge. The articles have been collected into 64 broad categories, like Geoscience and RemoteSensing, Neural Networks, and Solid State Circuits. Where
appropriate, concepts are explained mathematically, and the
book also contains a generous supply of graphics and tables toillustrate more difficult concepts. An extensive index, organizedby subject area and keyword, makes navigation easy, and eacharticle contains a bibliography. One minor weakness is in thecross referencing: See entries instead of See Also referencesare frequently used. According to the volume index, for example, Analog Filters has two entries. The first is for a 16-page article;the second simply states, "Analog Filters. See Bandpass Filters,"which users might mistakenly read without noticing the long article before it. Although the encyclopedia may be too expensive for smaller libraries, it is an excellent
resource.Recommended for large libraries, both academic and public.AWilliam Baer, Brigham Young Univ. Lib., Provo, UT
